Announcement to the Congregation & Parish Profile

After many meetings, emails, telephone calls, and as already approved by our PCC, we are at last in a position and delighted to inform you
of the following proposals which will be formally presented to the Pastoral Scheme of the Church Commissioners and the Bishop of Chichester for the Parish of St. Mary Magdalene, Bolney.

These proposals provide for the union of the benefice of Bolney and the benefice of Cuckfield in the Archdeaconry of Horsham and the Deanery of Cuckfield in the Diocese of Chichester. The parishes are to remain distinct and the new benefice will continue to belong to the Deanery of Cuckfield.

The Archdeacon of Horsham and our Rural Dean and Vicar of Cuckfield, Michael Maine, have been very encouraging and we have welcomed their advice and comments in our discussions.

We look forward to working with Cuckfield and to quote Michael:
‘In terms of ministry, there will be exciting opportunities for the person appointed at Bolney to use their gifts within both communities, working mutually with other clergy and lay people to make the Good News of Jesus Christ as widely known as possible.’

The advertisement will invite applications for a priest to work 2.5 days a week including Sunday mornings of course! The successful candidate will be offered residence at The Vicarage – the post being known as House for Duty.

The post will be advertised in The Church Times for three weeks beginning on 30th August.

Closing date for applications will be 20th September and interviews will take place on 2nd October.

Please speak to Sue Ayres or Tim Hutchings if you have any queries and we will do our best to provide an answer.
